Teachers to be responsible for less intake in Karnataka government schools

The state department of primary and secondary education has issued a strict warning to all teachers working with state government schools having a student strength of less than 50.

BENGALURU: Teachers of state government schools with less than 50 students are likely to be shifted to other schools. This academic year, they have been asked to increase the student strength or else be ready to face action.

The state department of primary and secondary education has issued a strict warning to all teachers working with state government schools having a student strength of less than 50. As per the circular, in case the number of students at a school fails to cross 50, teachers will be held responsible and redeployed to other schools where there is need of teachers.

The official circular also states that ‘teachers must give explanation for lesser students strength.’ While teachers have to ensure minimum 50 students at higher primary schools, the student strength has to be minimum 25 for lower primary schools.

As per the the information available from the department, as many as 261 lower primary schools across the state have ‘0’ admissions but 229 teachers are working at those schools.
