From now, engineering students should be in exam hall 20 min earlier

The university authorities have decided to be more stringent in conducting examinations in view of the recent developments where a rumour about question paper leak was spread.

BENGALURU:Students of Visvesvaraya  Technological University (VTU) studying various engineering courses will henceforth be required to be seated inside the exam hall 20 minutes prior to the start of the exam. In an official circular issued to principals of all affiliated colleges, VTU has clearly stated that students who turn up late will not be entertained anymore.

So far, there was a relaxation of up to half hour for students to enter exam hall even after the commencement of the paper.According to VTU officials, the university authorities have decided to be more stringent in conducting examinations in view of the recent developments where a rumour about question paper leak was spread and put the university authorities in a fix.

Speaking to TNIE, a senior official said, “We used to provide relaxation up to half an hour after the commencement of the  exams. But we suspect the involvement of such latecomers in issues like fake question paper leak. To put an end to this, we are  making it mandatory for students to be seated inside the exam hall 20 minutes before the commencement of the paper and those who come after that will not  be entertained.”

“We know that students will have an issue with this and say that they need relaxation due to traffic problems. But we advice them to start early and reach the exam centres half an hour before,” said official.
