MYSURU: Mud-slinging between the JD(S) and the Congress over Dasara celebrations continued even on Saturday with senior Congress MLA Tanveer Sait demanding a probe into protocol violations, misuse of passes and lapses on the part of city police.
He said Congress workers stayed away from the celebrations as they were not invited. Speaking to media persons here, he alleged district officials were puppets in the hands of Minister G T Devegowda. Sait said the elected representatives were not treated well and such serious lapses had not occurred in the past.
He said there were differences between Ministers G T Devegowda and Sa Ra Mahesh.
Turning his attention on lapses in the distribution of Dasara passes, he said the district minister took away 10,000 passes, Mahesh took 5,000 passes whereas the chief minister’s office got 2,000 passes. Demanding a suitable reply for these irregularities, he said tourists and families who purchased Gold cards were unhappy as they were not treated well at the venue.
“Excess passes were distributed and the probe should throw light on how many passes were printed,” he said.Referring to former chief minister Siddaramaiah warning the district administration, he said the deputy commissioner, the additional deputy commissioner and police officers were inaccessible.
Tanveer Sait expressed displeasure over the incident of Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara waiting for 45 minutes for Chief Minister Kumaraswamy’s arrival.
“The DyCM should have given accurate information about the CM’s arrival and action should be taken against the official concerned,” he said.
Observing that inexperience has been exposed in organising Dasara festivities, Sait said he had opposed printing photos above presiding deity Chamundeshwari in the invite.
