BENGALURU: Kannada actor Duniya Vijay is facing another allegation of assault, this time from his 18-year-old daughter from his first marriage. Monica has accused her father and his second wife Keerthi Gowda, besides three others, of assaulting her at his home. She has reportedly sustained a fracture in her right hand and is recovering at a private hospital.

Based on a complaint filed with the Girinagar police on Tuesday, an FIR has been registered against Vijay, Keerthi, his driver Mohammed and two others — Hemanth and Vinod — under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 324 (assault with deadly weapon), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

Monica has alleged that her father, stepmother and the three others abused and assaulted her before threatening her with dire consequences. She also alleged that they banged her head against a wall.

The incident allegedly happened at around 10.30 am on Monday when Monica, who lives with her mother Nagarathna at Kempegowda Layout, went to Vijay’s house in Girinagar after shopping to pick up her car keys, clothes, driver’s licence and other documents. Monica stopped living with her father after he allegedly asked her to falsely testify on his behalf in an earlier case.

Vijay told reporters that it was a false case and that he has provided CCTV footage to the police regarding the incident.Soon after the incident was telecast on news channels, Vijay released a video that apparently showed Monica attempting to barge inside his house and trying to break the door with a stone and kicking it repeatedly.

Duniya Vijay was arrested by the High Grounds police in the third week of September for allegedly assaulting gym trainer Maruthi Gowda over a trivial row and was released from jail after nine days.
