KMML develops titanium dioxide nano particles

The market price of KMML's nano particles will be 10 times higher than that of the ordinary titanium pigment.

KOLLAM: The Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML) has recorded a remarkable achievement in developing titanium dioxide nano particles through in-house R&D programme, which is another feather in the company’s value-addition project.   The breakthrough opens new vistas, as the nano particles employ innovative and environment-friendly technology to generate titanium dioxide particles which possess the particle size distribution in the nanometer range.

 The market price will be 10 times higher than that of the ordinary titanium pigment. The particles are designed specifically for application in automobile industry for metallic coating due to excellent exterior durability effect and also formulated for use in self-cleaning and hygiene coating.

  The product is used in cosmetic, plastic and wood lacquer industries.   The KMML has plans to instal a pilot project with a capacity to produce 10 tonne per annum.
