The police team, led by Aluva ASP J Jayanath, of the Special Investigation Team, probing into the teacher assault case, seized a Lancer car from Kunjunnikkara, near Aluva, during a raid on Thursday night.
The car, which was registered in Ernakulam district, was reportedly owned by Niyaz, of Kalady. The car was allegedly used by the accused in the attack on TJ Joseph at Muvattupuzha on July 4.
They escaped in the car and an accused who suffered serious injuries while attacking the teacher was taken to a hospital for treatment. The car will be taken to Muvattupuzha where the investigation is being coordinated.
Sedition case registered
Meanwhile, the police have registered a sedition case against Moideenkunju, of Kunjunnikkara, near Aluva. The police who raided his house have recovered several pamphlets highlighting articles on anti-national interest. Moideenkunju is the district secretary of SDPI, the political wing of the Popular Front of India (PFI). He has beenabsconding since the attack, SP PN Unnirajan said.
