Government agencies also violating rights: Pannian Ravindran

CPI state secretary Pannian Ravindran on Monday said that the government agencies were not lagging much behind in violation of human rights.

Inaugurating a seminar here as part of the Human Rights Day on Monday, he said that the violation of human rights by the government agencies would have serious repercussions in society. The government was guilty of inaction as hundreds of quintals of rice were rotting in the godowns in the state, he said.

The government is taking a lax attitude when the price of rice is rising causing much hardship to the common man.

He demanded that criminal elements in the police force who work with the mafia groups should be brought before the law.

The International Human Rights Association organised the Human Rights Day here. Association national president Ramachandra Rao, state director Vellayani Sundararaj, Attukal Surendran, Chala Sashi, P M Rajeev, Hariprasad and Geethakumari were among those present at the function.
