Warning against UDF dual power centres

Amid the rising chorus for KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala to join the ministry comes  a note of caution: Ramesh in the ministry will create two power centres that will prove the UDF’s undoing.

The warning was sounded by none other than former KPCC  president K Muraleedharan  MLA, a victim of such an experiment.  “I am a person who is carrying the burden of quitting the KPCC as its president and becoming a minister.  If Chennithala is inducted into the Cabinet, then I would have a companion,’’ Murali said here on Tuesday. He felt that there is no scope for a Cabinet reshuffle at this juncture.

It is the prerogative of the Chief Minister to shuffle his team, he said.   There will be two power centres  if  Ramesh Chennithala joins the state cabinet, he added.

There has  been no discussions regarding a reshuffle within the Congress or the United Democratic Front.  ‘’It is the Chief Minister who has to decide on a Cabinet reshuffle and the procedure will be completed after obtaining an approval from the High Command,” Muraleedharan said.

He opined that a meeting of the Congress MLAs should be convened to resolve the current issues. He also sought an immediate revamp of the KPCC.
