Marad case: Achuthanandan writes to Prime Minister

Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking CBI investigation into the conspiracy behind the Marad carnage and the alleged foreign funding behind it.

He said in the letter that the ongoing CBI probe against the other-state lottery mafia and the NIA probe into the flow of counterfeit currency notes from Pakistan point towards the threat to national security and economic stability.

Whatever information gathered through the interrogation of the accused in the fake lottery and counterfeit currency cases have made it clear that it was necessary to conduct a probe into the conspiracy behind the Marad massacre, VS said.  He said he had written more than once to the Prime Minister seeking CBI probe into the fake lottery case involving the ‘plundering’ of Rs 80,000 crore.

The current CBI probe vindicated his apprehension, he said.  It was the other day that the NIA arrested the culprit who distributed the  counterfeit currency notes. International conspiracy was doubted behind the incident.
