UDF's Prospects for Lok Sabha Polls Bleak, Says Vellappally

Vellappally Natesan has unleashed a blatant attack against the Centre and the state government. While hurling trenchant criticism against Oommen Chandy government, he said that the condition of the UDF in the Lok Sabha elections would be disastrous.

“The majority community is being neglected in every field. The organised minorities are getting the entire benefits in the state administration. Of the 13 new self-financing colleges allocated in the state, none was given to the majority community. A society, which was once denied the justice in the name of ‘chathurvanya’, is being sidelined with new norms and rules now. While the Thamarassery Bishop was given one kind of justice, M M Mani and R Balakrishna Pillai got a different one,” he said.

Vellappally sarcastically added that while the UDF government had offered minister post to a particular community in the Neyyattinkara assembly constituency, it had not taken any step to give a ‘tanthri’ post to the SNDP.

“By placing an offer of a discussion on Devaswom Board recruitment laws, the government was trying to appease a particular community. The government tries to divide the SNDP-NSS alliance,” he alleged.

Natesan added that he did not find any problem with the NSS-NDP alliance.

“The alliance is not only with the NSS alone, but with all the majority communities,” he said. He added that the people in the country are reeling under severe crisis owing to price rise, corruption and nepotism. The Union Government has become a total failure, he said.

SNDP Kottayam union president A G Thankappan presided over the function. Swami Dharma Chaithanya, SNDP Changanassery union president K V Sasikumar, M Madhu, V M Sasi and M R Pradeep Kumar were among those who spoke on the occasion.
