The district secretariat of the CPM that met on Saturday in the presence of PB member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan failed to reach a consensus on several issues, say sources. The secretariat members and the state committee members from the district had a marathon discussion on several inner party issues. The major issues that came for discussion includes formation of a new Kochi area committee, recommendations made by Mulanthuruthy area committee to take disciplinary action against two area committee members, allegations of moral turpitude against the Perumbavoor area secretary and unresolved factional issues in Kolenchery.

According to the sources, the district secretariat evaluated  the decision by the Mulanthuruthy area committee to take disciplinary action against two leaders as immature. The area committee decision was based on an analysis that the leaders failed to ensure that workers in IOC are getting a better payment and service condition. The area committee members were said to be the loyalists of the VS faction in the district but the area committee is said to be controlled by official faction.
