Chaos engulfs Thiruvananthapuram

The Capital city on  Wednesday  became a war zone following the agitation of the LDF and Left youth organisations seeking  the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. During the agitation, a group of workers crossed over the compound wall  in front of the statue of Veluthampi Dalawa. Police chased them away  from entering the Secretariat.

The LDF march  was stopped in front of the Assembly. When they tried to climb the barricade, police  hurled teargas shells and water cannons. As the workers  were dispersed, a group of  students inside the University College  started hurling stones and petrol bombs at the police. Police retorted with stones, grenades and teargas shells injuring many passersby.

Policemen  surrounded the Saphalyam complex at Palayam and lathicharged people standing there.
