Evidence against Shalu: SIT gropes in dark

Although six days have passed after the arrest of starlet Shalu Menon, SIT has yet to get any substantial evidence in regard to her alleged financial deals with Biju Radhakrishnan, the first accused in the solar scam. A source associated with the SIT told ‘Express’ on Thursday that the investigation team is yet to find any evidence in regard to Shalu’s involvement in the `75 lakh windmill case filed by Rafiq Ali, a native of  Thiruvananthapuram. Ali had claimed in his complaint that both Biju and Shalu had defrauded him of `75 lakh in the guise of setting up a windmill in Tamil Nadu.

It is learnt that other than the eight sovereigns of gold seized by the SIT from the actor’s house on July 9 there is not much evidence to implicate Shalu. SIT is in the process of finding out if these ornaments were gifted to Shalu by Biju Radhakrishnan. “SIT had asked Shalu to produce her Volkswagen car, which was not found during the police raid on Tuesday. There were some photographs published in the media in which Biju Radhakrishnan was seen handing over the keys to the vehicle to Shalu. There were some reports that both Biju and Shalu had visited the car showroom in Kottayam before the car was purchased. Shalu’s driver produced the car before the SIT on Thursday afternoon and we are conducting inquiries to find out whether the car was actually given as a gift to the actress by Biju,” said DySP Reji Jacob, SIT, who is involved in inquiry.
