Chief Whip P C George on Thursday said that Kerala Congress (M) leader and Finance Minister K M Mani is eligible to become the chief minister of the state.
“If the UDF takes such a decision, the Kerala Congress will welcome the same,” he told reporters here. P C George was responding to the statement by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that Oommen Chandy should resign in the wake of the solar scandal, and K M Mani be made the chief minister. “Even the CPM suggests K M Mani for the chief ministership. Then why can’t it be considered,” asked George.
“Kodiyeri said that they have an issue with Chandy continuing as chief minister. There should not be any issues with K M Mani becoming the chief minister. If such a decision is taken within the UDF, the Kerala Congress will welcome the same,” George told Express.
