'Opposition not interested in finding the truth behind solar scam'

Adding fuel to the fire of allegations and counter allegations between the Congress and the Communist leaders of the State in the Solar issue, Minister K Babu reminded that during the tenure of CPM Ministers none of them had resigned because of the misconduct of their staff.

The minister was inaugurating a felicitation of newly appointed AICC secretary V D Satheeshan MLA, organised by the lawyers under Indian Lawyers Congress (ILS) at Bar Council Auditorium, Ernakulam.

“This is not the first time allegations are being raised against the personal staff of CMs or other ministers. In the past, allegations were raised against Nayanar’s personal staff.  He did not resign. Serious allegations were raised against Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s and V S Achuthanandan’s personal staff. They too did not resign”, said K Babu. He said that every other accused in the Solar case is in jail now which is a clear proof of credibility of the investigation in the case. The minister also said that the opposition is not interested in finding out the truth behind the solar scandal.

“If they had sincerity they should have agreed for the joint inspection of CCTV videos”, he said. “This is a political conspiracy against the CM and we won’t bend before it”, said the minister.

Receiving felicitations from the ILC, AICC secretary and Parur MLA V D Satheeshan came down heavily on Congress leaders who bent down before community and religious considerations.

“When community leaders ask them to sit down some of our leaders crawl”, said the AICC secretary.

He said that the system of ‘letters from community organisations’ to key positions should be avoided in Congress.

The AICC secretary said that at the heart of the recent controversies surrounding the Congress is the organisation’s inability to make quick decisions before letting the media blow up issues out of proportion. ILS president N U S Namboodiri and MLAs Hibi Eden and Dominic Presentation were present at the felicitation.
