Congress yields to league, KC(M) pressure

That the sentiments and say of the minor coalition partners will be taken into account in a serious manner henceforth in the UDF dispensation, came through the words of Chandy himself on Wednesday.

“It is really unfortunate that Congress MP P T Thomas had made some adverse comments against K M Mani. Mani and the KC(M) is an integral part of UDF and always gave strength and unity to the Front,’’ he said, in a media briefing after the bilateral talks between Congress and IUML/KC(M).

Meanwhile, on queries on the verbal outburst against him by P C George on Tuesday, Chandy played it down and maintained that he was always open to all sorts of criticism. However, the meet expressed serious reservations at the conduct of P C George. He also said that the IUML had raised some issues earlier. ‘’Whenever the central leadership of the Congress comes here, usually talks will be held with UDF partner, Chandy said. ‘’We had one to one talks, followed by joint discussions. All were unanimous that the UDF and the government should be strengthened,’’ Chandy said. Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty and Finance Minister K M Mani had demanded that the high command should hold talks with them.
