Scam-accused had forged Kerala CM's letterhead: Aide

A close associate of solar panel scam accused Biju Radhakrishnan has revealed that  Biju had forged the letterhead of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy using a receipt of the CM’s Relief Fund.

Frennie alias Paul of Edappally, Kochi, made this revelation to the investigation team during interrogation.

According to police officials investigating the case registered here against Biju and his partner Saritha S Nair, the forged letter was used to take people and government departments into confidence to get solar projects.

Frennie, who runs a DTP centre here, was arrested by the police recently. The police had seized computers from the DTP centre.

“Frennie revealed to us that Biju had approached him with a receipt for money donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He requested him to create a letterhead from it.

Frennie scanned the receipt and copied the emblem and address. He said only three copies of the forged letter were made and Biju had taken soft copies of those three for use in future. One of this forged letter was shown to a victim and two other letters were sent to the Central Government for project approval. We suspect that Biju might have made more copies of the forged letter,” police officials said.

Recently, the Chief Minister had revealed that fraudsters had approached him with a bounced cheque of `2 lakh.

Police suspect that the donation was made to get an acknowledgement letter which could be misused for other fraud activities. However, Biju only received receipt for the donation.

Police will interrogate Biju on this matter.
