Ever since the UDF Government came to power, construction work of as many as 50 bridges was undertaken using a fund of Rs 1,200 crore.
These projects will be completed before the government completes its five-year term, said Public Works Minister V K Ibrahim Kunju on Thursday.
He was inaugurating the stone laying ceremony of Kundannoor-Nettoor bridge parallel to the existing Kundannoor bridge here.
He said the government is always ready to invest more fund on infrastructure development projects on the demand of people.
Union Minister K V Thomas and Excise Minister K Babu were also present.
Thomas mentioned that demand for a bridge linking Kundannoor with Nettoor had started even before the construction of Kundannoor bridge.
The ministers said the new bridge will be a boon to the people in the densely-populated areas.
Moreover, the parallel bridge will help vehicles take deviation from Nettoor INTUC junction to Kundannoor main bridge and it will help to ease the traffic block at Kundannoor junction.
