Train services on Shoranur route to resume today

The difficulties faced by rail passengers in the districts of Malabar will end on Sunday as most of the train services which had been cancelled owing to works will be restored.

The difficulties faced by rail passengers in the districts of Malabar will end on Sunday as most of the train services which had been cancelled owing to works will be restored.

Train services had been disrupted in the area for a few weeks due to track expansion works at Shoranur Junction railway station.

However, train services between Shoranur and Nilambur will be normalised only from October 20.  Yard remodeling works at Nilambur are lagging the restoration of train services on this route. Trains, including 12075/12076 Janasathabdi Express, 16005/16006 Eranad Express and 16859/16860 Chennai Egmore Express, will  conduct services as usual from Sunday. The passenger trains going through Tirur will resume services on Monday.

Rajyarani Express connecting Thiruvananthapuram and Nilambur will run between Shoranur and Thiruvananthapuram till October 18.

 Apart from this, train no.56621 Shoranur-Nilambur passenger will remain cancelled till October 18 and train no.56612 Nilambur-Shoranur passenger will be cancelled till October 19. All other passenger trains running between Shoranur and Nilambur Road section will be cancelled between Nilambur Road and Vaniambalam stations till October 18.
