In an incident on Tuesday, worms were allegedly found in the meals served in the Veravel Express which started its journey from Thiruvananthapuram (Train number 16334).

Three passengers who were served cooked rice and sambar prepared in the pantry car complained about finding worms in the food, when the train reached Kanhangad in the afternoon.

A doctor and two Municipal Corporation Councillors had found worms in the food. “We found worms in the food served to us. Soon we complained to the TTE,” passenger P Asok Kumar, Councillor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, said. The train which left Thiruvananthapuram Central the other day was running late. Nearly 30 councillors from municipal corporations in the state were heading to Ahmedabad to attend a national seminar on urban development on Thursday. When the train reached Mangalore, the food inspector arrived. A senior official of the Southern Railway Palakkad Division said samples were collected and sent to food testing lab in Thiruvananthapuram.   ENS
