Over 6,000 people to seek audience with the CM

The number of applicants in the district who want to attend the Chief Minister’s Mass Contact Programme have exceeded 6,000.
Around 3,000 applications were received in the collectorate and the taluk office in the last two days. As there are many who could not file their complaints within the stipulated period, the last date to receive online applications were extended. Special arrangements were also made on October 21 and 22 to recieve the applications.
More than 1,500 applicants reached the collectorate to file their grievances in the last two days. The applicants whose grievances have been settled by the CM will be intimated regarding the same, said Additional District Magistrate (ADM) B Ramachandran. Those who failed to file the grievances would be able to do so from 1 pm to 2 pm and after 5 pm on Friday, the date on which the mass contact programme is scheduled.
The work on the pandal which can accomodate around 5000 people will be completed by Wednesday night. Seperate counters will be opened for all departments. The officials will be present at the counter from 8 am on wards. A review meeting, presided by Excise Minister K Babu, to take stock of the arrangements being made for the conduct of the programme will be held on Thursday.
Arrangements have been made, under the aegis of C-Dit, for online transfer of grievances to the respective departments. A live telecast and webcast of the programme, scheduled to begin at 9 am, are also being planned.
Apart from the Chief Minister, the ministers from the district, MPs, MLAs and chairpersons of local bodies will be participate in the programme. Special bus services by the KSRTC has also been arranged to ensure easy commuting to Kakkanad.
The Chief Minister will conclude the programme only after meeting the last complainant, officials said.
A police team led by Padmakumar, IG, Kochi Range, City Police Commissioner K G James and Rural District Police Chief Satheesh Bino will maintain a strict vigil on Friday. A medical team under DMO Haseena Muhammed will also be there on the spot to provide medical help.
