CM to distribute Kerala Press Academy Awards on Saturday

The V Karunakaran Nambiar Award will be presented to Serjy Antony (Deepika), Chovara Parameshwaran Award to V Jayakumar (Kerala Kaumudi), Murkunoor Narayanan Award to P P Libeesh Kumar (Mathrubhoomi), N N Sathyavrathan Award to T Ajeesh (Malayala Manorama), Press Academy Photography Award to Ranjith Balan (Mangalam) and the award for best television journalist to V M Deepa (Indiavision).

Deepika chief news editor Serjy Antony won the award for the best editorial for the editorial dated November 9, 2012, on the miseries of migrant labourers in the state.

Kerala Kaumudi Kottayam bureau Special Correspondent V Jayakumar bagged the award for best investigative reporting for his series of reports from December 20 to 27 on the destruction of wetlands in the state. Mathrubhoomi Kasargod bureau reporter P P Libeesh Kumar won the award for best local correspondent for his reports on endosulfan victims in Kasargod.

The N N Sathyavrathan award for the best human interest story has been given to Malayala Manorama Kannur unit senior sub editor T Ajeesh for his feature report of a man who defied odds and brought up his child with cerebral palsy.

The item was published in the Februry 26 issue of Malayala Manorama. Mangalam Thrissur bureau photographer Rajith Balan won the award for his news photo published on April 27. V M Deepa won the award for the best television journalist for the programme scripted and directed by her and broadcast on Indiavision under the title ‘Green Report.’

A book written by Antony Davis and published by the Press Academy, ‘Vaartha Kadha, Vyavaharam’, will be released by the Chief Minister on the occasion.

Information and Public Relations Minister K C Joseph, Benny Behanan MLA, District Collector P I Shiek Pareeth, Thrikkakara municipality chairman P I Muhammed Ali, Information and Public Relations Department director Mini Antony and Press Academy chairman K C Rajagopal will be present at the function.
