Murali Nagavally Passes Away

KOCHI: Director and script writer Murali Nagavally died of cardiac arrest at his residence at Ramankari on Monday morning.

He was 59 and is survived by two children Parvathi and Gopi Krishnan. His wife Geetha Kumari had predeceased him.

Murali has directed two Mohanlal-starrer movies, ‘Alexander the Great’, ‘Wanted’ and a Bollywood film ‘Fauj Mein Mauj. He had served as assistant director with Priyadarshan, Balachandra Menon and Venu Nagavally.

Murali had worked as an assistant director as well as associate director for nearly 50 films, including  ‘Kilukkam’, ‘Gardish’, ‘Virasat’, ‘Megham’, ‘Kalapaani’, ‘Midhunam’, ‘Aey Auto’, ‘Lal Salaam’, and ‘Sarvakalashala’.

The director-scriptwriter had penned the story for ‘Kakkakuyil’ and written the screenplay for ‘Alexander the Great’.

The cremation will be held on the premises of his house on Tuesday.
