SULTHAN BATHERY: A KSRTC bus driver died of cardiac arrest while at the wheel, near here, on Monday. The deceased was identified as Muthuvanpurath Chalil Abdurahiman, 52, of Koduvally in Kozhikode district. He was a driver attached to the KSRTC depot in Sulthan Bathery.
The incident occurred at Koovacholai in Gudalur district in Tamil Nadu, around 8 am. The bus was on its way to Gudalur from Sulthan Bathery. It is learnt that Abdurahiman, who complained of chest pain and developed uneasiness, steered the vehicle to safety by ramming it into a parapet wall before collapsing in the driver’s seat. Though the passengers rushed him to the Government Hospital at Nellakottai, his life could not be saved.
He is survived by wife Ramla and children Saheer Ali, Shameera, Shadil Shah and Shahna.
