Single Window Clearance for Entrepreneurs

ANGAMALY: Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan has said that the state will provide single window clearance facility to process proposals from entrepreneurs to start enterprises in agriculture and food processing sectors. He was speaking at the Global Agro meet here on Friday.

“There are many people, who work outside the country, but want to start farm enterprises in Kerala. But the hurdles in starting such ventures are pulling them back. But the government now wants to provide a single window facility to process these applications,” the minister said.

He said recently the government had received 150 such applications from the people in Doha. “Efforts are afoot to transform each panchayats in the state to ‘Organic Panchayats.’ With this we can easily achieve the goal of becoming a complete organic farming state by 2016. Prizes will be given to panchayats for the speedy implementation of the mission. We will be the second organic farming state in the country after Sikkim,” he  said. He said though value products are present in the state, lack of storage and marketing facilities were the major challenges. The government is committed to procuring, processing and exporting these agriculture products in order to rescue the agriculture sector.
