Kuttanad Sivaraman Nair Dead

KOLLAM:  Well-known freedom fighter and Gandhian Kuttanad Sivaraman Nair died here on Wednesday. He was 85.

He joined the freedom struggle while studying in SD College, Alappuzha, and joined the ‘Bhoodan Movement’ launched by Vinoba Bhave. He also worked along with Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Jayaprakash Narayan.  Sivaraman Nair, an active volunteer of Gandhi Peace Foundation, played a major role in establishing the Gandhi Memorial Centre at Thuravoor in Alappuzha. From 1993 onwards he was secretary of Gandhi Peace Foundation’s Kollam centre.  He was bedridden since 2012.  Sivaraman Nair is survived by wife G Omanakutty Amma and three children.
