THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 35th edition of National Games will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 31 at the new stadium in Kariavattom, Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said here on Wednesday.
“The closing ceremony to be held on February 14 will be inaugurated by President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee,” the Minister said, while addressing mediapersons here.
Thiruvanchoor said that all construction and maintenance works for the National Games would be completed before January 15.
“Almost 90 per cent of the works have been completed. A total of `261 crore estimate was made for the total works at 27 sites across seven districts. Till now, around `206 crore has been spent for the works and the rest would be completed by January 15,” the Minister said.
The Minister claimed that major share of the work was completed in mere 20 months under the ‘Mission Model Works’.
