Swedish Naval Chief Visits

Kochi:Rear Admiral Jan Thornqvist, Chief Of Staff of Royal Swedish Navy (RSNCNS) visited Kochi from November 11 to 12. Before proceeding to Kochi, the Admiral visited Delhi.

KOCHI: Kochi:Rear Admiral Jan Thornqvist, Chief Of Staff of Royal Swedish Navy (RSNCNS) visited Kochi from November 11 to 12. Before proceeding to Kochi, the Admiral visited Delhi.

Admiral Jan Thornqvist had a meeting with Rear Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, chief of staff, Southern Naval Command, and discussed subjects of common interest to both the Navies, including piracy attacks in the region and Joint Maritime Cooperation. During his stay in Kochi, the Swedish admiral visited the Indian Naval training facilities of Southern Naval Command.

The admiral is an Alumni of Naval War College, Rhode Island (USA). He was accompanied by his spouse Christina.

The CO S of Swedish Navy and spouse also visited places of heritage interest such as Jewish Synagogue, Santa Cruz Basilica, SNC Maritime Museum and Kerala Folklore Museum.

Later, the Admiral and his spouse left for Mumbai.
