Tech Business Incubator Launched

KOCHI: Minister for Industries and IT P K Kunhalikutty on Thursday inaugurated the business incubator set up by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) at KINFRA Park, Kakkanad.

The incubator has been set up as a continuation of the Young Entrepreneur Summit (YES) held on September 12, 2014, with the aim of creating an enabling environment for startups across all sectors in the State.

Focusing on the electronic and IT startup ventures, the KSIDC will provide 120 seats to the incubatees. The 5,000-sqft incubator, set up at the Geo Info Centre, can accommodate 30-40 startups. Separate cabins and common work stations are provided. Of the 61 applicants at the YES summit, eight applicants who had requested for incubation space have already been provided the same at the business incubator.

The 8 start-ups will start operation immediately. The selected startups cover the fields of software/mobile application development; interactive game development; e-commerce; wireless charging technology; CSR management activity; virtual classroom for teaching practices and enterprise software product development. Companies like Datafactors Software (P) Ltd, Tuttifrutti Interactive, 3Q Mentors and Grabmy Grocery, as well as individual promoters, will be setting up startup ventures at the centre.

The KSIDC also plans to open business incubation centres in Angamaly, Kozhikode, and Kannur.
