MALAPPURAM: The stalemate between the State government and Physical Education teachers and students has ended with the Director of Public Instruction in-charge issuing a new circular on Monday.

The circular says that the directive given on August 19 regarding appointing teachers from the protected pool as Physical Education teachers has been withdrawn.

The decision was taken on the basis of a letter given by the government on November 17 directing the DPI to withdraw the order.

The school athletic meets were interrupted in various districts due to the protest of Physical Education teachers and students over the issue.

Physical Education teachers said that they were satisfied with the government order and declared their support to complete the school athletic meets.
