THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Opposition UDF mauled the Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF government on the eve of its one hundred days in the power saddle, describing the dispensation as one of the most unpopular and anti-people the state has ever seen in such a brief tenure .
''The biggest achievement of the Pinarayi Vijayan government in its 100 days of rule is that it has proved anti-people through various measures. The Left government has flashed its hereditary anti-people character even before two months had passed after coming to power, presenting its true colours'',criticized Opposition leader Ramesh
Chennithala in an article.''And the Left government has given a big shock to the people of the state by setting ground for the vigorous return of the politics of violence and killings, which the former UDF government had put to an end'',he said.
Listing out instances one after the other where, according to him,the government has miserably flopped,Ramesh underscored that the hallmark of the Pinarayi Vijayan government is ineptitude, arrogance, intolerance, foolishness and dictatorial tendencies.''What is seen now is the concentration of all powers with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Ministers are even afraid of going in front of him'',he said .''Those who were speaking loud on transparency earlier have sealed off their views now. The government is adamant that nothing will be explained to the media by the chief minister and the people will not get any information through the RTI Act'',he lashed out.
The opposition leader challenged the government to give at least a single thing on which it can take pride of .''From
Mullaperiyar to self-financing medical admissions, what can be seen is a procession of faux paus and ineptitude of the government'',he pointed out.''The Opposition was of the view that the new government should be given six months breathing time to settle down. But the opposition was forced to strike an agitation course ,as the anti-people policies have breached all limits'',he said.
''Pinarayi Vijayan started his innings as CM by surrendering the interests of the state on Mullaperiyar'',pointed out the Opposition leader.'' He might have taken such a stand as his arch political foe V S Achuthanandan was in the forefront of the people's stir on the dam.Though the chief minister corrected it later,Tamilnadu chief minister
Jayalalitha cashed in on it and met the Prime Minister ,with a demand to raise the water level to 152 feet'',Ramesh said.
Through an exorbitant hike in stamp-registration duties for partition of family holdings,Ramesh pointed out,the
government proved that it is not with the commoners.'' For transferring a property worth Rs 20 lakhs,if the cost involved was only Rs 1,000 earlier, the head of a family has to shell out Rs 59,000 now, despite the fact there is no financial transaction. Inspite of strong protests, the government is yet to correct the step'',he added.
The confusion and lack of understanding on the self-financing medical-dental colleges admission issue has led the government to create utter chaos,Ramesh blamed.'' Thousands of students and their parents are in dire straits over the circus staged by the government. In the case of school text books,it has not been distributed even after the commencement of the Onam exams. Leftist youth organisations had turned the state upside down last year on this score but are not seen anywhere now'',he ridiculed.
Highly criticial on the boost given by the Left government to the politics of violence, murder and intolerance,Ramesh said that police have been steadily converted into a force colluding with killers instead of giving protection to the people.
''Kannur has begun to witness CPM-BJP murder politics after a long break. The state has also seen a CPM man being killed by his colleagues in Poonjaar ,a former CPM leader ending his life in the party office at Paravoor and a party worker committing suicide after writing a letter to the chief minister on the inaction and partisanship of the police in a dispute at Karthikapally'',he said.
''The UDF government was able to stop the murderous politics in Kannur by ending the practice of going by a list of accused given from party offices and nabbing the real culprits'',he claimed and charged that the Left government has torpedoed it now. ''Under the new government,Kerala has also become a haven for thieves from abroad'',he said.
In the list of the new government's 'achievements',Ramesh also billed the role of advisers for the chief minister including an economic expert chanting neo-liberal mantra, torpedoing the already rolled out medical colleges in the government sector purely for political reasons and silencing V S Achuthanandan with the offer of a cabinet ranked post.''Huge amount will be flowing from the state exchequer as a price to corner a troublesome party man'',he said.
