Clarify stand on attending grand Kerala wedding, BJP tells Cong, CPM

The BJP has come down heavily on the big fat wedding of Congress leader and former minister Adoor Prakash’s son with hotelier Biju Ramesh’s daughter.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP has come down heavily on the big fat wedding of Congress leader and former minister Adoor Prakash’s son with hotelier Biju Ramesh’s daughter, which is scheduled to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

It said the Congress and CPM leaders, who trained guns on the BJP leaders for attending the big ticket wedding of the daughter of former Karnataka Minister Janardhan Reddy, have no qualms about attending a similar big fat wedding here even when the state is struggling to wriggle out of the financial crunch following the demonetisation drive.

BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan told ‘Express’ that it was important to avoid extravaganza and pomp to eliminate corruption in public life.

“If those wearing khadi are sending the message of simplicity, they should also  practice it in their own lives. Otherwise, people will consider them as mere actors, who have no sincerity in life,” he added.
“KPCC president V M Sudheeran, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should make clear their stand on the criminal extravaganza,” demanded Rajasekharan.

BJP national executive member V Muralidharan also criticised the opposition.
“Adoor Prakash, a senior leader of the Congress party, who is also  a former minister, should have strictly persuaded Biju Ramesh to avoid the pomp and extravaganza,” he said.
“KPCC president V M Sudheeran should make clear his stand on the wedding of the son of his party colleague, which is being conducted by pumping in crores of rupees,” he added.
