KOZHIKODE: Post demonetisation, Kozhikode’s booming two-wheeler retail market, which used to witness nearly 50 per cent hard cash transactions, has switched over to digital payments. All two-wheeler showrooms in the city have come up with various offers to prompt customers opt for digital transaction.
They are offering lower interest rates on loans and zero transaction fee for card payments. Many showrooms have installed additional swiping machines.

“We are getting a minimum of 10 customers a week who swipe cards to book vehicles,” said Manoj Kumar, sales manager at Suzuki showroom, Vandipetta. “After demonetisation, we have waived off the two per cent service charge for card transactions,” said Binas A, sales manager at TVS showroom, Chakkorathukulam. The demand for swiping machines has increased manifold too.
