Sajil Sreedhar Bags Literary Award

KOCHI: Journalist and writer Sajil Sreedhar has won the literary award instituted in the name of M K Sanu. Sajil won the award for ‘Sakhavinte Ithihasam’, a biography of former minister P S Sreenivasan. The award carries a purse of `1 lakh, citation and statuette.

Sajil’s work was selected for the award by Kochi-based Justice V R Krishna Iyer Trust. “Sajil portrayed the life of Sreenivasan, who earned a special place in the history through his personality and public life, in the book as if in a movie. The book gives the reader the feeling of travelling along with Sreenivasn,” said the jury.

This is the first time an award is instituted in the name of a writer while he/she is alive. Union Minister Sadananda Gowda will present the award at a function to be held at Gokulam Park, Kochi, on January 15.
