Anti-piracy Raid: Five Arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a state-wide surprise raid, the Anti-piracy cell on Sunday arrested five persons from various districts for allegedly possessing and selling CDs and DVDs of new Malayalam films and a huge collection of porn clips.

The arrested included a native of West Bengal. The sleuths seized computers, hard discs, memory cards and pen drives used for copying the films and clips.

In Thiruvananthapuram, the officials arrested one Binukumar running Mobile Palace, a shop in Balaramapuram. In Ernakulam, the officials arrested one Shajeer running Cube Divix, CD/DVD and Nishad, running Microchip at Gandhi Bazaar, Perumbavoor.

Vikramaditya Roy, a West Bengal native, was arrested from Perumbavoor.

In Kasargod, Nizamuddeen, running a shop called 1 2 3 at Kanhangad, was arrested.

The police registered a case against two persons for assisting the culprits who were identified as Inphan and Hassanar. 

The state-wide raid was conducted following a tip-off received by Anti-piracy cell SP, Pradeesh Kumar.

Police officers from Balaramapuram, Perumbavoor and Kanhangad  accompanied the anti-piracy officials during the raid which will be intensified in the coming days.
