Manifesto: Going Public With Kerala Assembly Poll Plans

The CPM will launch its campaign for the forthcoming Assembly polls with its Nava Kerala march from Kasargod.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM will launch its campaign for the forthcoming Assembly polls with its Nava Kerala march from Kasargod on Friday. The CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan will lead the march.

Gearing up for the elections, the CPM has placed development as the theme of the march. “The CPM has come up with the people’s alternative for Kerala’s development. Our vision is that development should be implemented with people’s intervention,” said Pinarayi. “Only a clear vision on progressive development for Kerala, imaginative intervention in public issues, a will to address the new age challenges and secular politics can lead the state forward,” said Pinarayi.

Pinarayi, widely tipped as the CPM’s Chief Minister candidate, had recently presented the party’s view on Kerala’s development in the International Kerala Study Congress. Going one step further, the CPM State Committee has decided to approach people directly seeking their view.

“The party workers will conduct house visits along with the developmental draft adopted at the study congress. The party has also decided to hold developmental seminars in all assembly constituencies.

“The public can let the party know about their concerns and suggestions through website.  These suggestions will be considered while preparing the manifesto. Also following the success of the women’s parliament in Ernakulam, the party has decided to organise more such meets in the state,” state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said.  Kodiyeri added that the party wanted to project itself as the only choice for the people in the coming Assembly election.
