KOZHIKODE: A private resort manager from Valathur near Meppadyi Rippon in Wayanad district was allegedly kidnapped by an armed gang in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to police officials, Lijesh M Jose, hailing from Eangapuzha in  Kozhikode district, went missing around 2.30 am on Thursday .

Polcie officials, however, ruled out the involvement of Maoists and said that two special squads have been sent to Bengaluru and Ootty to trace the missing person.

“He had talked to one of his friend at 2:18 am informing that an armed gang wearing khaki clothes was at his door.

That phone call came to an abrupt end and his phone remains switched off.

If the act was carried out by Maoists, they usually would have left something claiming the responsibility.

Nothing like that has been found from the site, police said. Further, there are people who have seen Lijesh at a nearby junction one hour after he went missing,”said an official on condition of anonymity.

The police officials further said that a case has been registered and an investigation is on to trace the missing person.
