Peace Educational Foundation authorities feign ignorance

Following reports that a few among those who had gone missing from Kerala to reportedly join the IS had links with the Kozhikode-based Peace Educational Foundation.

KOZHIKODE: Following reports that a few among those who had gone missing from Kerala to reportedly join the IS had links with the Kozhikode-based Peace Educational Foundation, the organisation has come out saying that a few of them had worked there but they don’t have any details about there IS links. "We just came to know about it through the media reports and we are shocked," said Akbar Cheriyakatt, administrative head, Peace International School, Kozhikode.  Shahid A G C, administrative head, Peace International School, Trikaripur said "It is totally new information. It is learnt that Abdulla had worked as a trainee at the Calicut office in last December and his wife had worked with the foundation few years back. But that is all we know.". Peace Educational Foundation was established in 2006 and the schools under it were set up at Trikaripur, Mangalore, Kasargod, Payangadi, Kozhikode, Manjeri Vengara, Kottakkal, Mathilakam, Ernakulam and Kollam. According to the website of the Peace International School, it is a Muslim initiative standing for a paradigm shift in the field of education that is built on a philosophy to help others based on Quran and Sunnath. Peace Educational Foundation chairman M M Akbar was unavailable for comment.
