KASARGOD: DO you have change, Mohammed Nachu of Nellikkatta was asked Wednesday morning. He was not in a bus but in a jewellery shop. “I had gone there to buy a small gold ring for my nephew’s christening,” he said. Nachu had Rs 1,000 note with him, but the ring’s price was only Rs 600.
They refused to sell it to him because he did not have the change. “I stepped out and ate biryani at Metro for Rs 300 and returned with change,” he said. Metro Hotel, famous for its beef biryani in Kasargod, put up a notice at its entrance. “If you have only Rs 500 note, please order for at least Rs 300 to get change”. The notice was pasted at the wash area too. At another restaurant, the signage read: “Eat for Rs 1,000 or Rs 500 or at least order takeaways. No change.”
