RSS activist claims role in murder of Fazal, Pavithran

DySP said there was sufficient evidence to prove Subheesh’s claim.

KANNUR: In a major turn of events, RSS activist Subheesh arrested in connection with the murder of CPM leader Mohanan confessed to have been involved in the murders of NDF activist Mohammed Fazal at Thalassery and CPM leader Pavithran of Chittariparamb.

The murder of Fazal had created a controversy and the case was handed over to the CBI, which arrested CPM leaders Karayi Chandrasekharan and Karayi Rajan.

Subheesh’s confession to the Thalassery police, when interrogated in connection with the Mohanan murder case a couple of days ago, is a crucial revelation that would come as a relief to the CPM leaders accused in the Fazal murder case and banned from entering Kannur.

According to Thalassery DySP Prince Abraham, Subheesh confessed to have played a role in the murder of Fazal and Pavithran.

The DySP said there was sufficient evidence to prove Subheesh’s claim.

When contacted, district police chief Sanjay Kumar Gurudin confirmed receiving information in this regard.

He said the accused had confessed to his involvement in eliminating Pavithran and Fazal, with the assistance of other people.

“The crucial information has been shared with DGP Loknath Behera, though we have not submitted any recording or video,” said Sanjay, adding that the information was subject to verification.
“Since the Fazal murder case is being investigated by the CBI, the latest information will be passed on to them. It is up to the agency to take the call,” he said.

If the police’s claim, that the RSS worker was involved in the two murders, is proven, it would be a set back for the CBI, which has named CPM leaders Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan in the chargesheet filed before the court.

Both the CPM leaders had have been seeking bail, and permission to come back to Kannur.
