Stage set for 46th State Film awards distribution event

PALAKKAD: Preparations are in the final stage for the conduct of the 46th Kerala State Film awards distribution function and also the giving away of the J C Daniel award at the Indira Gandhi stadium grounds in Palakkad on October 15.  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the function. Culture Minister A K Balan said that film personalities who have completed five decades in the industry like singer Dr K J Yesudas, actor Madhu, Dr Sarada, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, music directors Sreekumaran Thampy and M K Arjunan Master will be honoured.  The winner of the ‘Golden Reel’ award, Resul Pookutty, will also be honoured on the occasion.


A K Balan said that director K G George in spite of his indisposition has agreed to attend the function and receive the J C Daniel award. As a prelude to the award-giving ceremony, there will be a musical fiction of multimedia choreography titled ‘Heaven to Earth’. The music will be rendered by Ramesh Narayan, dance by Samudra and directed by Pramod Payyanur. A total of 48 awards will be given away at the function.


There will be a music nite and dance programme. The singers will include P Jayachandran, Naresh Iyer, Ramesh Narayan, Anuradha Sreeram, Vijay Yesudas,  Manjari, Madhusree, Bijipal, Gopi Sundar and Shreya. The dancers will include Rima Kallingal, Anusree, Shamna Kasim, Jyothi Krishna, Parvathy Nambiar and Firoz Khan.
