MALAPPURAM: A 27-year-old woman allegedly killed her one-year-old twins before dowsing herself in kerosene at her residence in Valanchery, near here, on Monday, police said.
The Kuttipuram police station received a phone call around 7 am about one Jaseela Rahman who had strangled her twin children named Farsana and Farhad.
Jaseela then poured kerosene on her body before setting herself ablaze in the bathroom of her house. The police have filed a case of suspected murders but did not divulge the motive of the deaths.
The three were found dead by Jaleela's husband Fasalu Rahaman at about 6.30 am who immediately alerted the police. Rahman first found his two children lying dead in the bedroom and then found the charred body of Jaseela in the bathroom, a few metres away from their room.
Though they were taken to the nearby hospital immediately, the doctors declared them brought dead.. The bodies have been sent to the Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, for postmortem examination.
The police said they were investigating whether the woman was undergoing any kind pressure or torture within the family.
