KOCHI: Singer S P Balasubramaniam will receive the Dakshinamoorthy Ganenduchooda award instituted by the Voice Foundation as part of the three-day Dakshinamoorthy music fest at Vaikom in memory of the late musician. Writer and film maker Sreekumaran Thampi will present the award on January 14 at the Kalamandapam of Vaikom Mahadeva temple.
Balasubramaniam will present the Dakshinamoorthy Sumeru award to music director Sharreth for his contribution to the Malayalam movie industry. Both the awards comprise of Rs 25,000, a citation and a plaque. Following this, Sharreth will present a musical programme featuring the songs of Balasubramaniam.
After a music fest by temple tantris Kizhakkineiyedath Meykkad Narayanan Nambuthiri and Bhadrakali Mattappalli Narayanam Nambuthiri on January 12, A Aravind, son of lyricist Abhayadev, will deliver a commemorative lecture.A number of noted Carnatic musicians will offer their tribute to the veteran musician on January 13 and 14.
