One more body recovered in Malappuram by Coast Guard

The body of an unidentified male, suspected to be one of the fishermen who went missing when cyclone Ockhi struck, was recovered 15 nautical miles off Tanur coast on Tuesday.

MALAPPURAM: The body of an unidentified male, suspected to be one of the fishermen who went missing when cyclone Ockhi struck, was recovered 15 nautical miles off Tanur coast on Tuesday. This just a day after another body was recovered from the sea near Ponnani.The body on Tuesday was recovered by 11 am in a joint operation by the Coastal Police and Coast Guard after hours of search. The search was conducted after the Fisheries Department, a day ago, received information from fishermen at Ponnani about the presence of two bodies floating in the sea. 

Revenue Department officers received the body at Ponnani by 2 pm. Ponnani tahsildar G Nirmalkumar said the body will be kept at the Ponnani Taluk Government Hospital mortuary and they will alert coastal police stations across the state.

The police said they are yet to identify and locate the relatives or family members of the two deceased. 
“We have alerted all departments concerned, including the Fisheries Department and the Coastal Police stations in the state. No one has enquired about the bodies,” the police said.
The Coastal Police and Fisheries Department have intensified their search.
