Belated message from PMO rubs salt into the UDF wound

An already agitated UDF camp and Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala over the denial of  permission to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submit a memorandum on Ockhi cyclone disaster

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An already agitated UDF camp and Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala over the denial of  permission to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submit a memorandum on Ockhi cyclone disaster became more furious and wounded by Tuesday evening, as a message was pushed  by the Modi’s tour officer in the PMO at 5.15 pm, permitting to meet the Premier at 5.30 pm !

The Opposition leader’s office was intimated by the PMO office on the belated permission at the eleventh hour, while the denial had already kicked up a row, and the Opposition had went to the extent of reminding Modi that the UDF is the principal Opposition in the state.

The PMO office has asked the Opposition leader and the UDF delegation to reach Thycaud Guest House at 5.30 pm, just before Modi was supposed to wind up the discussions with the government and fly back to New Delhi.By the time the message reached Chennithala’s office, the UDF leaders had already dispersed, since permission was not granted. Available leaders and the Opposition leader himself could not make it at short notice within the stipulated time.
