MALAPPURAM: Eminent Sunni scholar and Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama joint secretary Kottumala Bapu Musliyar, 64, passed away following a heart attack at a private hospital in Kozhikode, on Tuesday.
Bapu Musliyar, who was the state Hajj Committee chairman, was taken to the hospital following heart-related problems a few days ago. He had been undergoing treatment when he breathed his last at the hospital.
His mortal remains will be kept at the Suprabhatham daily office in Kozhikode for the public to pay their last respects.
Born at Kalampadi in Malappuram, Bapu Musliyar was one of the eminent leaders in Samasath Jamiyyathul Ulama. He was the son of Sunni scholar the late Kottumala Aboobacker Musliyar.
The burial will be held at 9 AM on Wednesday.
