THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: THE Finance Department on Tuesday sanctioned `2,865 crore, including third installment of Plan Fund, for local bodies and maintenance fund. With this the government has fully sanctioned the Plan fund for local bodies, said a statement from the department.
Orders have been issued sanctioning funds to the tune of `2,865 crore. As per the orders, local self governments can withdraw money as and when the projects are completed. The third installment of `1,700 crore has been sanctioned to enhance local bodies to complete their projects on time.
In addition to the third installment, an amount of `520 crore earmarked for special schemes has also been sanctioned. The amount kept aside for special reasons by the previous government has been shared among the local bodies.
An amount of `645 crore of maintenance fund has also been allotted.
In the current fiscal a total of `5,647.8 crore has been given including the first installment of `1,715 crore and second installment of `1,598.6 crore and additional funds sanctioned for service schemes.
