PALAKKAD: KPCC president V M Sudheeran has said the government in power is duty-bound to protect the life and property of its citizens. Speaking at a peace gathering at Sathrampadi junction in Kanjikode on Friday, he demanded that the police bring to book the real culprits behind political murders. He urged the police to take strong action against those involved in the attack on houses and party offices of political rivals.
He also visited the house of local BJP leader Kannan who suffered burns while dousing the fire on the motorbike, set ablaze by alleged CPM activists at Chadayankalaya in Pudussery here. Kannan, a former BJP panchayat member, had lost his wife Vimala and brother Radhakrishnan in the incident that took place on December 28. All of them were engaged in dousing fire on the bike. But the fire spread causing an explosion. Kannan and Adarsh, son of another brother, are recup e r a t ing f r om bur n injuries.
