Kerala Cabinet okays 10 per cent increase in number of higher secondary seats

The number of seats in government and aided higher secondary schools will be increased by 10 per cent, following a decision by the state Cabinet on Thursday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The number of seats in government and aided higher secondary schools will be increased by 10 per cent, following a decision by the state Cabinet on Thursday.
The additional seats will be sanctioned in schools with adequate infrastructure in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod. The number of applicants had exceeded the number of higher secondary seats in these districts prompting the Cabinet to go in for an increase.

Higher secondary courses will be started in  Model Residential Schools in Kuzhalmannam and Kulathupuzha this year based on the recommendation from SC/ST Welfare Department. Later, higher secondary course will be started in Attapadi and Vadakkanchery, the government said.

New PSC Members

The Cabinet decided to fill the vacancies of seven PSC members. It recommended the Governor to appoint: K P Sajilal, associate professor, Department of Physical Education, DB College, Kottayam; P K Vijayakumar, storekeeper, RVTI, T’Puram; D Rajan, assistant professor, Government Medical College, T’Puram; T R Anil Kumar, Sree Sankaracharya University, Kalady; Mohammed Mustafa Kadambot, retired junior superintendent, PWD; and Roshan Roy Mathew, Ranni

Wage Revision

The Cabinet decided to address the discrepancies reported in the wage revision at Steel and Industrial Forgings Ltd under the Industries Department. The Cabinet also decided to revise the pay of academic staff at the Centre for Development Studies(CDS).
