THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mystery continues to shroud the death of the seven-year-old girl who was found hanging inside the lavatory of her house at Kattayikonam near Pothencode the other day. According to the Pothencode police, Kavya might have choked to death accidentally when she tried to remove the clothes put out for drying.
However, it is the version initially given by the deceased girl’s relatives, who said Kavya slipped and fell down in the bathroom, which has confounded the police. Officers said despite her tender age,Kavya was in the habit of showering on her own. Though the possibility of suicide was ruled out by police, the fact the door of the lavatory had been bolted from inside has deepened the mystery. At the time of Kavya’s death, her mother and brother were the only persons present at the house.
To dispel any doubts, a team led by Pothencode SI, Aswini Kumar has started a probe to establish the actual reason for the death. Incidentally the autopsy report confirmed Kavya died due to hanging. “The autopsy confirmed she died due to hanging. However, the exact reason behind her death needs to be investigated and the probe is on,” Kumar said.
